Ridsdale: Ledley putting his security at risk

Ridsdale told the paper,

"Joe is not only losing out on a generous pay increase, he's also turning down security.

"We hope it never happens but what if he suffered a very serious injury this season like cruciate ligament damage? He'd get paid by Cardiff City until the end of the season - but what then"

"Also, We might win promotion to the Premier League this season and the manager may decide he doesn't want to offer Joe a new contract.

"I think Joe and his agent are adopting a very high-risk strategy.

"He needs to look at himself in the mirror because he's leaving himself exposed. I can't do anymore.

"I've told him he needs to talk to his agent. Joe is 23 in January so he's not a kid anymore."

Joe's contract wranglings have been going on all summer and into this, unless he signs, his last season.

Joe's form has suffered and after a red card last week he was only able to get a place on the bench at Watford. Ledley proffitted last season when Steve McPhail lost his place in the team, Ledley became skipper and took the club on a great run. He should be well aware of what will happen if he can't get back into the starting line up. City have scored 10 goals in the minutes Joe has been off the pitch. As Ridsdale says an injury could scupper a move and so could not playing.

Joe has been made a doubt for Wales' double header in the World Cup qualifiers this coming week. He needs to be assessed by the doctors over a hip problem.

"He is a doubt for Wales and we'll have to check on him," admitted Dave Jones.

"We want Joe right for us and for Wales and the only way we can do that is if he is clear of all of his injuries or he's not going away."
