Sound bites. West Ham

“It was a great finish from Kenny and it came at the perfect time because if we’d scored any earlier we would have been under a lot of pressure from West Ham.

“It was a brilliant start. Obviously you get confidence from winning against one of the best teams in the division. But let’s not get over confident because we rode out luck a bit.”

Kenny Miller

"It's a fantastic result and it was a good performance from the boys.

"Our defence was outstanding and we got our reward in the end.

"As a forward you want to score goals and when you come to a new club it's always important to get off the mark early, and there's no better place to do it than away at Upton Park.

"It's only one of 46 matches but it was important to come here and get a good start, the last thing we wanted to do was get beaten.

"A point would have been a good result for us so to nick it at the end was a dream start."

David Marshall

"We had a few chances earlier than Kenny's winner, but to get a goal at that time just kills the game. We just concentrated for the last two or three minutes and it was job done.

"Earnie and Kenny guarantee you goals and obviously a lot of work rate. Rudy is just another dimension along with Joe who is different as well. I thought Rudy changed the game when he came on. King Kenny is all about hard work.

"In the last four or five years his goal-scoring record has been second to none. He just wears down centre-halves the whole game and when he gets his chance he'll stick it away. We could have had a few more goals. We had a lot of half chances and I expect in a couple of weeks we'll be even sharper."

I've looked for quotes from West Ham players but couldn't find any.
