Cardiff play their game in hand over Bolton so an immediate chance to extend the gap over 3rd place back to 11 points. Lincoln are away at Exeter, also on Tuesday.
As bad as Cardiff losing at home to Lincoln, was seeing Bolton score three goals after the 88th minute to come back and beat Wycombe 3 - 2. It gives Bolton hope they can catch up the now 8 points they are behind Cardiff. It's still very much in City's hands though and with a game in hand, this one at Barnsley, Cardiff have the chance to repair the damage done on Saturday.
- Barnsley are winless across their last eight home league games against Cardiff City (D2 L6), losing this exact fixture 1-0 the last time it was played in February 2022 in the Championship.
- Cardiff City are unbeaten across their last 10 league games against Barnsley (W7 D3), keeping six clean sheets across that time, including one in their 4-0 victory in the reverse fixture in January.
- Barnsley have won just two of their last 28 league games against sides from Wales since April 2010 (D9 L17), though they did win their last at Oakwell, defeating Wrexham 2-1 in January 2025.
- Cardiff have won each of their last three league games played on a Tuesday; they haven’t won four in succession on this day since December 2020.
