Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson thinks relegation might be a good thing for Cardiff. He was speaking after the Bluebirds beat his side 2 - 1 at CCS
“I think they've made a clear decision that they're going to go a lot younger and they've got some good young players. I think it's the correct decision.
"They’ve brought a manager in that’s got a clear way of how he wants to play. I think the handling of the expectations is going to be the big thing for them.
“Sometimes the best thing that can happen is actually to get relegated.
“I know it doesn't seem it at the time and it sounds crazy what I'm saying, but actually you then start maybe winning games in a lesser league and that builds a momentum, similar to what Birmingham did.
“You then can get momentum in the crowd and momentum in the club again, because clearly it’s lost its weight a little bit, not being disrespectful — I think everyone would agree.
“For a club this size to be in League One, that shouldn’t be the case — but it is. There have been a lot of big clubs in this league — Birmingham, Leeds, teams like that.
“But I think they've made the correct decision with the manager and I think they've made the right decision in terms of how they're going about it.”
