When does the 2026/27 season begin?
The opening weekend in the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two is set for 14–16 August.
However, the season will officially start with the Carabao Cup, with Round One taking place on 7–9 August.
The Vertu Trophy will begin in the week commencing 21 September.
When do I find out who my Club is playing?
Championship, League One and League Two 2026/27 fixtures will be confirmed on Thursday 25 June at 12pm.
The Carabao Cup and Vertu Trophy draws will also take place on fixture release day, with full details to follow.
How can I watch the 2026/27 season on TV?
More than 1,000 games across the EFL, Carabao Cup and Vertu Trophy will be broadcast on Sky Sports throughout the season for viewers in the UK.
Sky Sports subscribers can watch all live football directly through the Sky Sports app.
In the USA, CBS Sports will air at least 250 EFL matches each season across all competitions as part of the agreement introduced ahead of 2024/25.
When will fixtures be selected for TV?
TV selections for the 2026/27 season will be announced as follows:
- By 2 July 2026: All live broadcast matches to be played before the end of September 2026.
- By 31 July 2026: All live broadcast matches up to and including the weekend of 8–11 January 2027.
- By 6 November 2026: All matches up to and including the midweek of 2–3 March 2027.
This provides fans and clubs with up to five months’ notice, helping with travel and accommodation planning.
Further announcements:
- Matches for 5–8 March 2027 will be confirmed by 5 February 2027, followed by weekly announcements looking four weeks ahead.
- Matches for the penultimate weekend of the regular season will be announced three weeks in advance.
- Matches for the final weekend will be announced one week prior.
When does the Summer Transfer Window open?
The summer window opens on Monday 15 June 2026 and closes at 23:00 on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
When does the Winter Transfer Window open?
The winter window opens on Friday 1 January 2027 and closes at 23:00 on Monday 1 February 2027.
