Cardiff won 5 - 1 on Saturday afternoon with a devastating first half demolition of their hosts. Chris Willock scored a hart-trick while Isaak Davies and Yousef Salech scored the others. Forest Green scored in a second half full of substitutions. One of which was Eli King after he missed all of last season through injury.
Brian Barry-Murphy:
"I think fitness wise we're improving a lot, and that's very pleasing,” Brian began. "Obviously we want to try and improve our fitness as much as possible, while also not risking any injuries. Today was a very beneficial game for us.
"Our game is very dependent on speed, intensity and real aggression. As we go through the gears in pre-season that should naturally improve.
"I'm grateful to Forest Green Rovers for giving us a game and to have the supporters we had here today was incredible.
"I think there are a lot of areas that we can improve on the pitch.
"We want to add to the squad and improve it as well.
"When all these things come together, we'll be in a really healthy place.
"We all have a lot to prove, always.
"Our intention is prove it in actions, rather than words."
