Middlesbrough blinked this week and sacked manager Jonathan Woodgate as the club hurtle towards the bottom three in the Championship. An embarrassing 3 - 0 home defeat by Swansea last weekend was the final straw and cost Woodgate his job.

So Middlesbrough went for experience and have called on Neil Warnock to save their season. This means Warnock will face Cardiff in the penultimate game of the season before facing Sheffield Wednesday on the final day.

Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson have joined Warnock at The Riverside.

"The last two games are quite tasty," Warnock said in his first press conference as Boro boss.

"Cardiff home and Sheffield Wednesday away. It's a good job the fans aren't in!

"It's really exciting. Everybody can beat everybody in the Championship."
