Reaction: Goalscorers Rubin and Ronan

“When we went behind it was important to show that we weren’t going to change from our plan,” Rubin Colwill said.

“We wanted to stick to what we knew because we knew it was going to work, and that paid off in the second half.

"In the first half we were brilliant too, but it was just that one lapse in concentration that meant we conceded. It’s only going to get better from here if we keep working hard.

“Practicing free kicks is something I always do. I’ve scored a few in pre-season so I had the confidence to tell myself, why not? We were behind too so I went for it and thankfully it went in.”

And on playing alongside his brother Joel today

“It’s crazy but also a dream to be starting alongside my brother. Everyone dreams of playing for their hometown club, and to do it with my brother makes it extra special.

"Our parents and our grandmother are away so they haven’t seen us, but hopefully they’ve been able to watch us on TV!”

“It’s a mad feeling to get my first senior goal,” Ronan Kpakio said. “Being here already in itself is such a great achievement but to be able to get a goal in the first league game of the season is something you can only wish for.

“We are always going to give it our all in every game. We will try our best, play the way that we want to, and try to get the results off the back of that. That’s all we can do, work hard and good things will follow.”
