Trust Evening Raises £1,155 for Don Murray Appeal

Last Updated : 28-Feb-2026 by Michael Morris

We wanted to thank Trust members and the wider fan base for their support for Thursday's fundraiser for the City legend Don Murray.

We are pleased to say that £1,155 was collected– including £60 worth of donations – from the raffle and donations.

The 10 former players Roger Gibbins, Jimmy Mullen, Terry Boyle, Lee Jarman, Tarki Micallef, Chris Pike, Paul and David Giles, Damon Searle and Gary Bell, who played in the famous Real Madrid game in 1971 alongside Don Murray attended the event at the Cardiff City Stadium.

There were some great anecdotes from their football careers and special thanks to former BBC Wales soccer commentator Rob Phillips for asking the questions and giving up his time..

The Trust would also like to thank Chris 'Snowy' Insole, Trust vice chair Mike Spear, Trust board members and Cardiff City FC for their donations of some great raffle prizes.

'Snowy' has kindly donated a couple of additional items which we are making arrangements with Don's family to auction – one is a superb signed Neil Warnock coat and the second is a British Lions shirt signed by Sam Warburton. Both are framed. We will provide more details later.

Don has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and his family have asked for support to help with his ongoing care. As a disease that gets worse over time, Don is now unable to care for himself, requiring round-the-clock assistance.
